Online Copy Paste
Online copy paste lets you move text between your own devices over the internet instead of retyping it or forwarding it through email and chat. A normal copy and paste only works inside one device. This online clipboard keeps a small shared text space that your phone, computer, and tablet can all open, so the text you save on one device is ready to paste on the other.
There is nothing to install and no account to create. Paste your text, press Save, and a 6-character clipboard code appears. Enter that code on your second device, press Connect, and the text is available there. Because the connection is two-way, both devices can keep editing the same clipboard.
What is online copy paste?
Copy paste normally moves text between two places on the same computer: from a web page into a document, or from one app into another. Online copy paste does the same thing between different devices. Instead of a clipboard living in one device's memory, the clipboard lives on a web page, and every device you connect can read from it and write to it.
That small difference removes one of the most annoying everyday problems: needing a piece of text that exists on one device while you are sitting in front of another.
How the online clipboard works
- Open the clipboard on your first device and paste your text.
- Press Save. The page gives you a 6-character clipboard code.
- Open the same page on your second device and enter the code.
- Press Connect. Your device is now linked to that clipboard.
- Copy the text anywhere you need it, or edit it from either device.
After a device connects once, it reconnects automatically on later visits. Changes made on either device appear on the other within about one or two seconds, so you can treat both screens as the same clipboard.
Copy text from your phone to your computer
A typical example: you receive a delivery address on your phone and need it on your work computer. Instead of emailing yourself, open the clipboard on your phone, paste the address, and press Save. On your computer, open the page and either connect with the code or simply open your already-linked clipboard. Press Copy and paste the address into the checkout form.
The same flow works for links you opened on your phone, notes you typed in a hurry, or a message you want to reply to from a full keyboard.
Copy text from your computer to your phone
Go the other way when you find something on your computer that you will need while you are away from your desk. Save it in the clipboard, then open the page on your phone. Because your phone reconnects automatically, the text is usually already there waiting for you to copy it into a phone app.
This is useful for links from your desktop browser, an address you looked up, a code snippet you want to test in a mobile app, or a reminder you want to carry with you.

Online copy paste vs email and chat apps
Emailing yourself or using a chat app works, but it adds steps: compose a message, send it, open the other device, find the message, copy the text, and delete the thread. An online clipboard keeps the text in one always-open place with no subject line, no send button, and no message thread to clean up later.
Unlike chat-based transfers, the clipboard is two-way. You can update the text from either device, and the other device sees the update. This makes it practical for notes and drafts, not just one-time transfers.
Is online copy paste safe?
Clipboard content is private by default: only devices that know your 6-character code can read it. A device connects only when someone enters the code, and the same device can cancel its link at any time. The current code can also be replaced with a new one, which immediately disables the old link.
Two things to keep in mind. First, anyone who has the code can open the clipboard, and shared links like online-clipboard.click/code are public read-only pages. Second, clipboard text is not end-to-end encrypted, so you should never store passwords, bank details, or other sensitive information in it.
Tips for smooth copy paste between devices
- Keep the clipboard text under the 50 KB limit; paste large blocks in parts.
- If a device shows the wrong code, press Cancel link on it and connect again with the current code.
- Use Clear to remove text you no longer need, and generate a new code if you shared an old link publicly.
- Refresh the page if you do not see a change; syncing normally arrives within a couple of seconds.
